Cora James has been singing all her life and entered professional music in 1986.

Described as having a voice like whisky, honey and cigarettes Cora blends Jazz, Blues, Soul, Rock and R&B into her own stylish & cool musical cocktail. Cora sings with a passion, interprets a song and makes it her own.

With an extensive repertoire Cora performs with duos through to a full band and tailors her performance to suit each individual venue.

Internationally, 1992 saw Cora lead a band in Africa for nine months with Moving Pictures saxophonist Andy Thompson and local Kenyan musicians, which was then followed by six months work in England.

After that period she returned to Sydney and continued to play with the best musicians this city has to offer including... Jackie Orszacsky, Paul Berton, Peter Head, Sandy Evans, Ralph Franke, Rick Robertson, Matt Fell and Victor Rounds.

Cora has played all the major venues in Sydney and had a Tuesday night residency at the hip Monkey Bar in Balmain with her band The Whisky Angels from 1999 to 2001. With John Hill on vocals/keys Darrio Bortolin on bass and Lloyd G on drums she sang her special brand of soul/jazz/blues and played to a packed house every night.

Cora released her first CD "Whisky Angel Blues" in April 2001. For more information please click here.

In 2001 Cora based herself in London for 8 years. She played all over the capital plus stints living and working in Amsterdam, Osaka and Nagoya in Japan and touring Sri Lanka.

Now back in Sydney, Cora has reformed The Whisky Angels with John Hill Vocals/Keys, Lloyd G Drums, Dario Bortolin Bass and Paul Berton Guitar with sometime guests Andy Thompson Sax and Rex Goh Guitar.

A big warm sound and heartfelt interpretations ensure once experienced, you will always remember the voice of the whisky angel Cora James.
